removal

I removed the History, Vision, and Quick Facts section because it was taken verbatim from the school's webpage. If someone wants to rewrite those sections so that they aren't so verbatim, feel free to do so. --Ichabod 04:21, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Union's Website's "quick facts" is old.

I removed the mention of tennis courts because they were removed three years ago to make room for a new, state-of-the-art soccer field. Rfkmichman 19:39, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

3,100

Dr. Dockery's letter in the Union magazine "Unionite" lists the undergrad enrollment as 3,154 Rfkmichman 19:37, 3 January 2007 (UTC)rfkmichman 1/3/07 (Union Student)

Soulforce visit deletion

I removed the reference to the Soulforce visit because in Union's 175 year history I do not think this is a particularly significant event (except that it may spark an interesting discussion). I imagine many colleges are visited by many different groups. If something particularly noteworthy happened during the visit then I think it should be included (as in this touched off a reform among Baptist institutions etc.). I just don't think a campus visit (though it probably does mean a lot to the members of Soulforce) is that significant unless something happened at the visit to make it so. Just my thoughts. If I'm wrong feel free to change it; I'm wrong quite often. User:Sweetmoose6

While I don't consider the visit particularily signifigant, Union's reaction to the visit and the media coverage was enough so to justify two sentences. Frankly, Union's wiki is quite biased in favor of the school, touting its achievements copied almost directly from their prospective student literature. I would settle for a new section on controversies, which I am currently compiling. User:Ærin

Okay. User:Sweetmoose6

I added a controversies section that was immediately removed. It is important that visitors to this page get a complete view of the school, not just the good points. Hhen1026 (talk) 00:34, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Lambda Chi Alpha deletions

I deleted the references to Lambda Chi Alpha that were posted for several of the alumni. I don't see us listing all of the campus groups that these people were involved with while at Union, and the references seemed more like a commercial for the fraternity than relevant info. User: jaxxfan

I deleted the picture of the Lambda Chi Alpha house. Not appropriate.

I deleted the picture of the Lambda Chi Alpha House again. Not appropriate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.42.34.52 (talk) 02:05, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

I redeleted the picture, as it messes up the formatting of that section. It seems many have deleted this and it continues to be put back on. Some discussion of this would be nice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.86.11.237 (talk) 05:46, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Tornado Damage

Moved the tornado damage report to history section; someone should keep track of this and update information as it becomes available. jlf (talk) 09:20, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

While dramatic when it occurred, I think the bit about the tornado needs to be trimmed a bit, especially the plugs for donations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.131.10.36 (talk) 16:17, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

US Supreme Court Justice

I do not think a US Supreme Court Justice should be mentioned on the page as a graduate of Union University unless he graduated from the University. Even though he did graduate from a college that eventually merged to form Union University, implying that the Justice actually graduated from UU without specially saying what college he graduated from is misleading. Ericherren (talk) 08:16, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

The college became the University. It happens all the time. Alumni from the college are still listed as alumni from the Universities that they eventually become. What's the big deal?Sweetmoose6 (talk) 01:53, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Requests for References

Most of the references for this article come from the Union University website. At least two-thirds of the article is completely lacking citation. I went through and removed some unreferenced sections that I could not find any information on. Also, I added additional references for the Greek System section and the Publications section. I'm not sure why I was accused of vandalism. Detsom (talk) 05:25, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

The last edit by IP address Special:Contributions/69.167.204.2 (revision 435821643 seen here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Union_University&diff=435821643&oldid=435817043 ) removed requests for citation/lack of citation templates from the article. Upon further investigation, these edits came FROM someone on the Union University network. See: http://toolserver.org/~chm/whois.php?ip=69.167.204.2 and http://www.ip2location.com/69.167.204.2 Detsom (talk) 16:48, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Given your history of posting inaccurate information and your repeated attempts to disparage Union, your edits and requests for citation hardly seem genuine. The requests for citation simply cluttered up the page, and that's why they were removed. I'm not sure why you're so obsessed with Union, but your vandalism of the page is getting tiresome. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.167.204.2 (talk) 19:53, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

All juvenile harassment aside, the article is academically inaccurate. An article about an institution of high learning shouldn't reflect that image. Why don't you help out and provide us with a fair and balanced look at the school, backed by accurate citations/references. Should I put [citation needed] next to everything or can you figure it out on your own? Oh yeah, and I removed my name from your response. Are you stalking me?  ;) Detsom (talk) 05:50, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
